Opcenter Advanced Planning and Scheduling (Opcenter APS) is a system for managing production planning processes, detailed study of the sequence of actions and optimization of production schedules, taking into account the capacity of resources, the availability of materials, semi-finished products and components and any additional restrictions (availability and qualification of workers, technological equipment of production, capacity and energy efficiency of production facilities).
Opcenter APS assists in making informed decisions based on the business model built and scheduling algorithms used, improving the efficiency of production assignments, reducing costs and maintaining high quality of customer service.
Key features
- Operational planning: with a horizon of several weeks to a work shift (planned or even current) with a detailed sequence of actions in the context of specific equipment and its processing power;
- Shift and daily tasking for each piece of equipment or worker;
- Specific order planning: direct, reverse, bi-directional from the “bottleneck”;
- Built-in schedule modeling algorithms: parallel loading of equipment, minimization of work in progress (WIP), minimization of changeovers;
- Development of own production schedule planning model algorithms;
- Accounting and modeling of inter-operational movement of WIP: setting-up time, equipment changeover, standard waiting time between operations, adjustable size of the transfer batch between operations for parallel WIP processing in several operations;
- Production calendar templates down to each piece of equipment;
- Accounting for planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and breakdowns;
- Setting the order execution priority;
- Production schedule display modes:
- Gantt chart (in the context of equipment with the option to highlight individual orders and chains);
- WIP tracking chart;
- Materials interlinking diagram (with option to calculate the projected values of the balances within each item, and highlight the supply shortages);
- Constraint usage schedule.
- Manual schedule adjustment, taking into account factors not implemented in automated scheduling algorithms;
- Search for optimal solutions for the current production situation through modeling of various options for the production schedule (what-if analysis);
- Wide range of ready-made report forms;
- Development of analytical reports with diagrams generation;
- Loading initial data from external sources (ERP, MES, SCADA, etc.)—csv-files, relational databases, OData sources;
- Loading events data without human guidance;
- Performing calculations in automatic mode while saving the results to a database or uploading to a configured external source;
- Flexible deployment options—installing a ready-made Opcenter APS solution or customizing it according to the specific production needs;
- Use of MS SQL Server DBMS;
- Russian interface.
Key benefits
- Increased efficiency in the use of production resources;
- Optimizing the number of equipment changeovers;
- Reducing the number of required reserves;
- Maintaining a high level of deliveries of finished products on time;
- Analysis and prevention of “bottlenecks” in production;
- Quick development of options for the settlement, both for sudden production deviations from design plans, and for potential issues;
- Quick response to deviations from production plans;
- Quick response (adaptation of the production planning system) to changes in demand for products;
- Provision of a visual diagram of the production load;
- Improved customer service;
- Better quality and speed of the production schedule calculation in parallel;
- Most complete set of out-of-the-box algorithms for automating the processes of production operational planning.
